Steve & Christine's Story
For God so loved the world that He GAVE...
Giving is a natural response when we truly love someone. As I contemplate what contribution I can make to fund our new permanent church home, I am asking as the Psalmist in Ps. 116: 12, "What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?" We should also be asking, What am I doing with my life that really matters; that will last forever?
God is calling all hands on deck! Everyone off the bleachers! - A collective effort for the body of Mission Church to engage in a great adventure. All great adventures seem to carry a little risk, that's what creates the adrenaline rush and allure. Well, if you want an adventure-put God to the test! He himself urges us to go ahead and test him in Malachi 3:10. If we are faithful to bring our tithes and offerings to God, he says, "I will open the windows of Heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great that you won't have room enough to take it in!" Talk about adventure!
We shouldn't ask, "Why should I give?" - But rather "Why wouldn't I?". Luke 1:45 reminds us how God rewards our faith when we trust him to do what he tells us he will do. God told Mary, the mother of Jesus, "You believed that God would do what he said, that is why he has given you this wonderful blessing."
Every family needs a home for obvious reasons, and so does every church family. This is where we will do life together as a community of believers and bring light to a lost world. The local church is the hope of the world. As you take steps along this journey of giving, include your children in on the excitement as much as possible and model for them the eternal joys and rewards of living for a purpose greater than ourselves. Giving is contagious. Help them to catch a vision of living missionally.
There are only two eternal things on this earth, the Word of God and the souls of people. Let's invest in a savings account that gives dividends and interest into eternity. You can't lose. Who knows those very souls could end up being your very own family, friends, or neighbors. Now that's an investment you could never regret!
