As of April 8, 2018 we are in the fulfillment phase of your commitment. This means that however you plan to give your commitment to Never The Same can officially start! How can I engage in Never The Same? What are you asking me to do?
Ask. Believe. Commit.
Ask: First and foremost, we are asking that you pray and seek God, asking Him what it will mean for you to be Never the Same. Prepare your heart to hear Him, and then listen to what He says. Engage in personal reflection with God in the Never the Same Booklet you will be receiving. Engage with us on Sundays each week of this series. Talk with your spouse, your family, your friends, or others about what this commitment will mean for this next exciting season of your life.
Believe: Expand your trust in God believing Him to use Never the Same to transform you, Mission Church, and The 10. What is He calling you to let go of? How must you trust Him in this season?
Commit: We are asking that you make a sacrificial commitment – whatever it is that God leads you to do. Follow His leading. Please mark your calendar for Commitment Sunday, March 18, and prepare to experience a life-changing worship service that will forever be remembered as a defining moment for our church and for our own faith.
If we are contributing to Never the Same, how does this change my giving to the general fund and other special offerings?
Never The Same is a “one-fund” initiative. This means during this two-year period, every contribution to God through Mission Church is a contribution to our Never The Same initiative. Both the operating budget and building costs for the next two years will be funded by Never The Same. Therefore, every week becomes a time to celebrate and contribute towards what God is doing in us and through us to help more people find and follow Christ in The 10 and beyond.
How long is my commitment?
Never The Same is a 2-year initiative. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin with our Big Give Sunday, April 8, 2018 and it will culminate in April of 2020.
Are we supposed to make a one time gift or is this on-going?
You may give at whatever frequency you feel led. Almost all contributions to Never The Same will be based on recurring gifts whether weekly or monthly from April 8th, 2018 through April 2020.
Also, we know that God may call you to make a significant one-time gift, either from your stored resources, from the proceeds of something He calls you to release, or for some other reason. All one-time gifts can be given on Big Give Sunday, April 8th, 2018.
Are there additional ways besides cash that I can give towards Never the Same?
Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give towards Never The Same. This could be in the form of stocks, property, or you may have some stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He might be inviting you to release or repurpose during this time. Please let us know if you need assistance with arranging gifts of property or stock, and we would be happy to help you with that. You can contact Executive Pastor, Tommy Bowman at firstname.lastname@example.org to make a gift of this type.
What if I have significant connections in construction or other trades to help with the building process?
We are already on our way to developing and transforming this space into the future home of Mission Church. If you have specific resources or relationships that could be beneficial in this process, please contact Executive Pastor, Tommy Bowman at email@example.com to find out if this is a way you too can help.
What if I don't have a job right now? What does that mean for my Never The Same commitment?
Never the Same is about your total, radical, sacrificial generosity to God’s work through Mission Church and your transformation during this time. We believe that God calls us to action in times of hardship just as much as He does in times of abundance, and that looks different for every person. Never The Same is about a heart change - one that is only accomplished by surrendering our lives completely over to God in this area of giving so that we are truly Never The Same. That may mean that you are being challenged to sell things, to pick up odd jobs, or even to trust God in faith by making a commitment that you don't quite know how to fulfill right now, but that you believe God will provide as you seek for ways to sacrifice and work towards that commitment. Our prayer is that 100% of us engage in Never The Same so that we can all be supporting, loving, encouraging, and praying for one another through this spiritually-stretching season at Mission. Please reach out to us for prayer and guidance as you navigate through this time, and we would be honored to walk alongside you as you Ask, Believe, Commit.
What if I am severely in debt right now? Am I still supposed to give?
If you are currently working to pay off debt, we commend you for making progress on that. And you should continue to do so. We would be happy to help you in this journey and/or to recommend a budgeting class that could practically help you. Being in debt does not need to prevent us from experiencing the joy and challenge of giving. Giving isn't about what God wants from you; rather, it's about what God wants for you. So it should be our joy and privilege to give at all times, no matter our situation. Please contact us if you need assistance with this or if you would like to speak with a budgeting counselor, and we would like to help.
What if my financial situation changes dramatically during the two years of Never The Same?
We are asking you to Ask, Believe, and Commit based on how God is leading you right now. None of us know what the future holds and your financial situation two years from now may be very different. Maybe you will receive a promotion or a new job and have a significant increase in your financial situation, or maybe you will enter early retirement, or endure a period of unemployment. Regardless of what happens and how surprising it may be to you, God will not be surprised. He is leading you right now, and if your situation changes He will continue to lead you. We are always available to talk and pray with you if the need arises.
What if I have never given to Mission Church before?
Never The Same was crafted specifically with you in mind! Never The Same is a "one-fund" generosity initiative so your very first gift can contribute to all God is doing at Mission.
We believe that God will transform every person who trusts Him during Never the Same. Join us as we Ask, Believe, and Commit.
What if I am new to Mission Church?
Never The Same is about God’s vision for our church and God’s vision for you as His son or daughter. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give towards, and we would really love for you to make Mission Church your home and join us in this Never The Same adventure. If you are ready for it, this is a perfect time for you to put a stake in the ground and make this your church. Say yes to this increcredible invitation as we all Ask, Believe, and Commit together!
What if I’m not sure about Jesus, the Church, or Mission Church specifically?
Great question. People take different spiritual steps at different times. Some people begin praying before they begin attending church. Others begin going to a church service before they begin talking to God in prayer. Giving is another spiritual step, and it comes at different times for different people. One thing is for sure, however; just like other spiritual disciplines, giving draws us closer to God. And God is calling ALL of us to give. Jesus shares, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19) Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we would encourage you to still join us as we Ask, Believe, and Commit in this Never The Same initiative. We firmly believe that it will draw you closer to God and hopefully move you towards greater trust in Him and to experience His love for you
